Episode 34: Welcome To The Beach

The "beach" in this particular case is not necessarily a good thing. It is a place where broadcasters wind up when their services are no longer required. A broadcaster will often find him/her self "on the beach" when the station they are working for flips formats. It is something that happens fairly often and when it does, it affects the lives of not only those who are fans of said station, but also those who work there. It just happened here in Memphis at one of the stations and in this episode, Ric talks about the theories behind format flipping how it can work and what ultimately happens when this form of station management occurs.

Episode 31: Jaeci King

Jaeci King is the voice between the songs at Radio Memphis. In the radio business, he would be referred to as the "imaging guy". Yes, he says more than "Radio Memphis". In fact, he's a very funny and witty guy with some great stories of his time in terrestrial radio. Ric caught up with Jaeci and waxed a bit nostalgic of the early days of their careers and some of the secrets a lot of radio listeners might not know about or are even aware of.

Dianna Fryer sits down with Ric in this episode about the theories and philosophies of working in show business. Specifically, the radio business. Ric drags Dianna through an amusing conversation about what it takes to be successful in the broadcasting business. Internet radio is here to stay and the differences between live internet radio, the streamers and the sad world of terrestrial. The conversation takes some wild turns and for anyone curious as to how Radio Memphis operates, this will prove to be an amusing show.

Episode 29: Exiled to Radioland Part III: Into The Fire, Out Of The Ashes

This is it. The final word Ric will have regarding the subject matter from the past two weeks. In this concluding piece, Ric talks openly about those last days of working at a heritage radio station, its ultimate demise and the end of a terrestrial career and the end of a cherished life. The rawness of this story is startling. It is emotional and at times, difficult to listen to. Although the story here is his own, from the recollections of the events as they unfolded, there is some rather pointed language based on the opinions of Ric. He relives the bitterness and anger of those days with the promise of a new hope at the end of this journey.

Episode 28: Exiled to Radioland Part II: Rise of The Evil Empire

In Part 2 of the story, Ric talks of the good times and where things began to get scary. When corporate machines look more at the bottom line than the actual product, bad decisions get made. In this episode, you will hear how Ric went from one side of the mic to the other. How you truly don't have that much control of your own future in this environment. The high anticipations and the depressing lows and what set the stage for the final blows that would kill the dreams of employees and fans alike. Episode 27: Exiled to Radioland Part I: Where It All Began

For the premiere of season 3, Ric begins the tale of what led him to build Radio Memphis. This is the first part of a three part series of episodes where Ric tells the story, from his perspective, of the events that occurred throughout his career in terrestrial radio. From his humble start in a radio station in San Antonio, Texas through his television career and all the things that happened in Memphis. Over the next three episodes, Ric will explain what it was like to find himself in the strange and often difficult world of broadcast TV and radio. It culminates with his recollection of his time in morning drive in Memphis and working with John "Baddog" McCormack.

Episode 26: Privacy, Facebook & The Internet (Season 2 Finale)

Ric gets into the trenches for the upcoming war between the terrestrial and cyber worlds. The FCC wants to control the web. We all know that. However, the real problem is privacy and the main red herring is Facebook. This episode is the season two finale and a big surprise for the upcoming season three start happens in this episode.
