Episode 65: Howard Grimes - Part 1

Somewhere in your record collection, you may have a ton of stuff from Memphis. The classic Memphis Soul Stew stuff. Hi Records, Stax, Al Green and Willie Mitchell. Playing drums on literally countless of those records was Howard Grimes. We were presented the chance to sit down with Mr. Grimes to talk about those early days of Memphis music with one of the guys who were responsible for that very sound. Radio Memphis has been blessed to have the acquaintance with Brad Dunn. Brad is the nephew of the great bass player Duck Dunn. Brad has been instrumental in helping Radio Memphis do what it does and we finally got the chance to sit down, on the air at Radio Memphis to discuss the business of Memphis music. Joining Ric in this episode is Dianna Fryer and Jeff Janovetz.

Something about our society lends itself into making stupid people famous. Most celebrities you know of are not that bright, seemingly. In this episode, Ric takes a look at what makes this phenomenon work. Not just the people you see in the movie theaters or your television, but all this begs the talk, just how stupid are our famous politicians?

We have all seen the stuff online that says you need to click here for this or that. Lists are fun, sure. But, ever notice that each thing on some lists go to different page? Annoying for sure. There is a reason for that madness and in this episode, Ric looks into the whole concept of clickbait. You best be careful where you put your finger or you might wind up looking at something you can never un-see.

There is an old adage, "Quitters never win and winners never quit." The truth behind that statement is harder than just the folksy vibe it instills. In this episode, Ric talks about sacrifice, suffering, adapting to the current changes in our world today. The world is a cruel and hard place. It hasn't been easy for Ric and his crew. But here is the thing about this episode, we aren't the only ones who suffer and strive for some success. Some of you might be as well. As Ric talks about his situations, you might find some real common ground here. Is the doctor in? Yes. A bunch of doctors, you.

Episode 58: The Art of Being A Picky Whore

Part of the fun of being in show business is the fine art of being paid for what you do. In this episode, Ric talks about advertising in general and how we perceive it in the current day and time we live in. In the past, there was a major concern that we were all inundated with products being advertised to us. There is a balance to how it is done correctly and in this present day and age where we are all connected, the ads are everywhere and we have somehow evolved to a point where we can selectively tune it all out. So, how does Ric do it? By being a picky whore, that's how.

Episode 57: The Aliens Are Judging You

If there is in fact, advanced life elsewhere in the universe, they could be trying to figure us out based on what they see and hear through our broadcasts and the internet. This is what Ric gets into in this episode. Imagine, if you will, what it must be like for another civilization to judge us solely based on what we discuss in social media. It is kind of scary if you think about it. After all, we judge each other in that exact manner so it seems plausible that another advanced life could be deciding our ultimate fate based on all those cat videos. We are so doomed.
