It is no secret Memphis is fountain of fantastic talent. One such part of the musical talent that never gets talked about in depth is the art of songwriter. In this episode, Ric sits down with Eddie Dattel and Wally Ford who have written a massive catalog of songs for a bunch of artists in the area. Eddie doesn't get out to play much, as he will explain in this conversation but, he has a new disc out and he plays a couple of songs from that CD plus a couple of cuts from the disc itself. Plus, Ric wraps up 2017 with his final thoughts of the year.

Ric likes to say, "The best part of Christmas is it being over." People tend to get a little too worked up around this time of year and Ric delivers his annual report from the front lines of the war on Christmas. Naturally, there will be some who have issues with this, nevertheless what is said, needs to be said. But, it gets better. John Nemeth and his band was in the Radio Memphis studios and delivered a fantastic performance and a great time all the way around.

Since he suffers from Seasonal Affective Disorder, it makes the holidays a little more difficult, especially at rude hours of the morning. Also in this show, a fantastic conversation with a Midsouth musician who is known all over the country, Lightnin' Malcolm. Great stories, including a talk about the Grammy nominated R.L. Boyce (who was also booked that night but coudn't make it due to a flat tire), a great performance and a wonderful story about his work with Robert Plant. Yes, THAT Robert Plant.

New rules in play with the Federal Communications Commission will now allow your local radio station to operate without any local personalities or even cover local events. This is a pretty big deal. In this episode, Ric will explain what this means to you, the radio listener who might rely on your local stations to give you up to the minute information during some sort of emergency.
