Episode 212: Road Trippin' and An Evening with Booker Brown

Back from a recent road trip from Texas, Ric has a couple of observations about the road. Apparently billboards are hurting for business and there is a lot of porn shops along the highway. Also in this episode, Ric and Jeff spent some time with Booker Brown who had Albert Sutherland on guitar. If that wasn't enough, Willie Hall dropped by to play some drums.

Jon calls in from the U.K. to talk about the documentary and his experiences in the Memphis and midsouth area. Plus, some social media mayhem happened and music from The RV's.

From Radioland has been in production for four years now. What better way to celebrate this achievement with a conversation and performance with Vince Johnson & The Plantation Allstars. Also in this episode, Ric lays out some details about a brand new show coming to Radio Memphis this month. It'll be airing Wednesday nights at 10:00 PM CT. Plus, Ric tells you about a show he went to and it regards next week's guest.

Episode 208: The Superb Owl & Sean Bad Apple

Recorded and released during the big game, Ric has his thoughts about the NFL. They aren't very popular thoughts, or are they? In this episode, Ric talks about the absurdity of it all. Also Ric and Jeff sit down with one of the Beale Street staples, Mr. Sean "Bad" Apple to talk blues and other things. It is kind of rare to get him into the studio as he is one of the busiest musicians around. They talk a lot about the business of the blues and you'll hear a couple of his tunes as he performed live on the air.

Episode 207: An Old Young Man - Kyle Roberts

Ric was in public and in the ever increasing pressure for him to meet new and exciting people, he met a lovely couple while having brunch with Josephine (The Immigrant). An interesting conversation happened and Ric will tell you about that here. Also in this episode, Ric and Jeff sat down with Kyle Roberts. A young blues man with an old soul. A very charming and talented young man who moved to Memphis to get closer to the music scene, among other reasons.

Episode 206: Everybody Gets The Blues with Goodson & Taylor

The 34th International Blues Challenge is behind us. Leading up to this great event, Ric and Jeff sat down with Tyler Goodson and Jimmy Taylor who were representing Memphis in the Solo/Duo category. Recorded before their appearance at the IBC, they talk about their music, songwriting, owning a cover and more. Included in this show is several live performances and a cut from their Tennissippi album in one very full show.

Episode 205: The New Year's Show That Didn't Air with Zeke Johnson

This was recorded 31 December, 2017. It was meant to be live. That didn't happen as apparently (or so we are told), some New Year's Eve reveller took out an "internet node" with his car and took down the entire area the studio sits in. There were phone calls to the ISP (Comcast), adult language was used (liberally) and it was ultimately decided to record the show for later use. Here is that later use. Ric and Dianna were ready to go with this show so they did it anyway. It is the Radio Memphis New Year's Eve show featuring Zeke Johnson.

Episode 204: Getting Bent with Liz Kinnmark

2018 has started. For some, this is where people tend to try and make their changes. This show included. Over the last several episodes, we have transitioned to an interview based show. So yes, a new year and some new things. At least out of our studios. In this episode, Ric sits down with local performer Liz Kinnmark about her series of quarterly shows known as Poleluminati. Liz will explain what this show is all about and how you can find out more. Pole dancing. It doesn't necessarily involve nudity. At least no one was naked during this conversation.
